PAEDIATRIC MICROBIOME, NUTRITION & FECAL MICROBIOTA TRANSPLANT RESEARCH AT THE FOREFRONT.
We are interested in learning more about the role of the paediatric microbiome in children’s intestinal disorders. From leading multi centre fecal transplant trials for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, studying host-microbial interactions in mice, to exploring underlying mechanisms of nutritional therapies our lab revolves around: bugs, guts and kids. What drives us? To treat, and treat better.
The Pai Lab is focused on child health research at the interface of the gut microbiome and the gastrointestinal tract. We believe that a person’s microbiome exerts tremendous influence on human health, and children provide the ideal window to understanding how one’s gut bacteria goes about doing that. Our research program attempts to understand relationships between the microbiome and children along a central dogma: gut bacteria, its influence from nutrition, and their impacts on the health of kids. Through our work we aim to impact diagnosis, management, and mechanistic understanding of conditions that affect kids.
